Thanks to Valerie Taylor for her experience of gratitude and generosity within the St. John’s family!
What were you looking for when you came to St. John’s?
A place that feels like home, where I know people and can meet new friends. A beautiful and inspiring worship space. Good music. A community in which I felt valued for who I am and a place where I can make a contribution.
What is your first memory of feeling like St. John’s was your home?
When I was asked to invest my gifts in team ministries and on Church Council.
I appreciate St. John’s is rooted in strong Lutheran theology, but not socially or spiritually conservative. I like how our church really embraces “reform”ation. I like our focus on neighbors and looking beyond our walls.
Where did you learn generosity?
From my mom and several good friends.
Why do you choose to support St. John’s with your time, talent, and treasures?
Why not? I can’t take it with me, and I live a life of abundance that nothing to do with what’s in my wallet. If I can contribute to other’s lives so they can focus on love, I’m committed to doing so!
What is your greatest hope for St. John’s and the next generation that calls it home?
Heartfelt investment, a spirit of belonging, and so much love!
